Resumen

Este artículo tiene como objeto analizar el proceso de concentración y acaparamiento de tierras públicas en el Oeste de Estados Unidos y especialmente en el estado de Nevada a finales del siglo XIX. Tiene por propósito analizar la estrategia de producción utilizada por las grandes compañías ganaderas para acabar con la competencia. Trata de demostrar cómo la posesión de las fuentes de agua creó la oportunidad de un uso exclusivo de los pastos públicos contiguos, para tratar de impedir que el ganado de los competidores pastara en estas tierras públicas.
