The role of gender in rural extension practices in Colombia
Main Article Content
Abstract
This article explores practices by rural extension workers in Colombia from a gender perspective. The research methodology was quantitative, using a survey based on Likert scales from 1 to 5 on preferences and in-person and digital media. It was found that female extension workers are younger, have less work experience, and have less participation in non-public entities that develop extension programs and projects. There are no significant differences between women and men regarding the use of extension methods and media. However, there is a difference in the preference of female extension workers for the use of educational games as a means of extension. In addition, women have a higher preference than men for technical dialogues and round tables as methods; as well as the use of booklets and digital guides and the use of WhatsApp as digital extension media.
