Space and Labor in the Oilseed Hub in Gran Rosario, Argentina: local dynamics of the transnational agri-food regime

Abstract
This article aims to analyse the relationships between labor and space in the Oilseed Hub in Rosario (Argentina), considering it as a particular spatial fix inserted in the transnational agrifood regime that has been emerging since the 1980s. The double process of dispossession/subordination of labour implied by this spatial fix is approached from the notion of spatial practices to illuminate the ways by which companies, different types of workers, and organisations enter, advance, resist, and reconfigure the local space. The methodological strategy takes into account the multi-scale nature of the process, focusing on the installation process of an industrial oilseed plant and its port in the southern area of Rosario. The techniques used combine participant observation and semi-structured interviews with a review of secondary sources (journalistic and documentary). It is concluded that the dual dynamics of dispossession/subordination determine differentiated spatial practices underlying the political articulation of labour.
